“Nomeda & Gediminas Urbonas organize interdisciplinary art programs under the title jutempus with an objective to develop new frameworks for contemporary art practices and to facilitate creative discussion in a critical discourse. The project extends in various directions (physical, media space and social environment), functions subversively, and educates both the art community and the society going through a pathetic period of changes. In the latest project Transaction, launched in 2000, the previously applied techniques of collaboration, discussion, packaging of information, and disseminating it through media channels in the shape of communicative design are employed for the investigation of the politics of identity. The object of research is female representation in media images and its impact on the social behavior of women. The model of the project is based on the pattern of drama triangle: victim, persecutor and rescuer, borrowed from transactional analysis used in psychiatry. The structure is a three-way dialogue between Lithuanian feminists-intellectuals indicating female scripts in Lithuanian films, an archive of films made in 1947-1997, and Lithuanian psychiatrists commenting on the script of a victim. Transaction provides theoretical insight and a platform for communication, the participants of which are above all spectators, though the project also approaches a wider circle of professionals locally and internationally. The composite character of Transaction allows the possibility to variously expose it, arrange and rearrange its spatial narratives.”
