“Woven together out of a rich variety of sources, from personal experience to a deep understanding of historical processes, Lubaina Himid’s thoughtful mediations always achieve a unique poetic resonance. Beach House is a new series of paintings in which the artist use the beach house as a means of giving expression to reflections on issues of history and identity. The exhibition is timed to coincide with Africa 95.”
