Born, 1964 in England
Amanda Hawthorne had work included in Double Vision: An exhibiton of contemporary Afro-Caribbean art, held at Cartwright Hall, Bradford, 8 November 1986 - 4 January 1987. Within the Double Vision poster/brochure, the text on Hawthorne included “She is another of today’s promising young artists whose work is generally inspired by a Caribbean cultural background experienced through parents living in England, in her particular instance through her Jamaican father. She has an interesting mixed-media approach combining dry point, pastel and sometimes litho print. The works represented here are thematically harmonious and manifest an engaging visual wit in the skillful use of ideographic-like fragments. There is warmth in her work.”
