Inside the cover: ECHO AND HYSTERIA “Maud Sulter has been Momart Fellow at the Gallery since the end of last year. As part of her residency she was invited to make two related shows. With Echo she has chosen to focus on women artists “lost“ in the national collection, and in Hysteria she highlights the loss of identity experienced by black artists both past and present. Echo is a selection of works by women artists working between 1880 and 1940. Hysteria will employ large photographic images and a specially commissioned sound-track.“
This section is accompanied with two images: Marie Laurencin, Portraits, 1915 (Trustees of the Tate Gallery); Maud Sulter, Clio the Muse of History. The exhibition Echo was accompanied by an illustrated catalogue.
